Sony smartphone business is not in its peak these days due to severe competition and great offerings. Despite this Sony is not looking behind and still working to deliver some good smartphones. Mostly, Sony’s flagship lineup is still alive due to some Xperia smartphone having Cinema display released earlier this year. Now, it has been found that Sony is going to announce a new phone with the upcoming Snapdragon chipset.
As per the report of Japenese news media, Sony’s upcoming flagship device is on its way and will be powered by Snapdragon’s new flagship SoC processor, most probably Snapdragon 865. This flagship processor would be the successor of the Snapdragon 855 and 855+.
The internal model number of the SoC is SM8250. It could be almost the upcoming Snapdragon flagship SoC as the current flagship SoC 855 was code-named SM8150. If the naming convention is followed it will be named as Snapdragon 865. The existence of the upcoming Snapdragon chipset got confirmed from Sony’s firmware distribution server which is shown in the above image.
Rumours also suggested that there will be a 5G integrated modem and a simple 4G version of the same SoC, resulting in two options for the same processor. If it is true then it will be just same as Huawei own recent launched chipset Kirin 990.
As per the current Sony track records, the upcoming flagship is expected to feature a Cinema display with 21:9 aspect ratio, Android 10 based Xperia UI. However, it is rumoured to launch in upcoming Mobile World Congress.
