10th-Gen ‘Comet Lake’ Laptop CPUs Revealed By Intel

Comet Lake 10th Gen

Yesterday, tech giant Intel unveiled their eight 10th-generation Core processors. These processors are meant for laptops, ultrabooks and convertibles. They are codenamed as ‘Comet Lake’. These 10-gen CPUs are primarily based on Intel’s 14nm Skylake CPU architecture. This series consists of Intel’s first Hexa-core processor in the U-series, and the Quad-core processors under the Y-series. The U-series can be configurable up to 25W to give max performance, whereas the Y-series can be configured down to 4.5W.

Speaking of specs, they can provide a max of 4.9GHz turbo frequency with up to 12MB of the cache. processors can provide 1.15GHz of graphics frequency. Both the series CPUs are capable of delivering faster CPU frequencies, faster memory interfaces and support for Wi-Fi 6 connectivity at gigabits of speed. The higher-end Comet Lake chipset will allow the laptops manufacturers at least up to 32GB of RAM with LPDDR4X support.

The U-series comes with 4 U-series versions ranging from dual-core i3-1011U to the i7-10710U, Hexa-core processors. On the other hand, the latter Y-series will also be present in 4 versions starting from the dual-core i3 and ending with the quad-core configuration of i7-10510Y. This time thanks to the increased no. of cores the Y-series chips have support for up to 7W baseline TDP(Thermal Design Power), which was only 5W last year.

These newly announced series of processors will really speed up the competition for making great processors for the laptop market.
