Union minister Nitin Gadkari tests positive for COVID-19

Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday tested positive for coronavirus. Gadkari has isolated himself and asked all those who came in contact with him to follow covid-19 related protocols.

After feeling weakness on Tuesday, Gadkari consulted his doctor regarding his health. During that checkup, he tests positive for COVID-19.

This information is conveyed by himself via twitter saying “Yesterday, I was feeling weak and consulted my Doctor. During the course of my check up, I have been tested COVID 19 positive. I am at present doing well with the blessings and good wishes of all. I have isolated myself.”

At the time of mandatory COVID test for all the members of the parliment before the monsoon session started 17 members of the Lok Sabha and eight from the Rajya Sabha had tested positive.But at that time Gadkari tests negative.His positive result came from a test conducted in Nagpur, sources said. Mr Gadkari had attended parliament on Monday.

In a second tweet, the minster suggested that everyone who came in contact with him follow the safety protocol.

He tweeted “I request everyone who has come in my contact to be careful and follow the protocol. Stay safe.”

The active number of covid-19 cases in India crossed10 lakh mark on Wednesday as the country already crossed the 5 million milestone. According to health ministry, 90,123 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours in the country.
