The film picks up where Sadak left off, revolving around the journey with a young girl who becomes an important character in the life of the protagonist, and the reason for him to stay alive. Sadak 2 is a 2020 Indian movie directed by way of Mahesh Bhatt and produced by means of Mukesh Bhatt beneath their banner Vishesh Films. The movie is the sequel to the 1991 movie Sadak. The sequel stars Sanjay Dutt, Pooja Bhatt, Alia Bhatt, and Aditya Roy Kapur. Jisshu Sengupta plays the principle antagonist in this film.

The film is about Ravi’s depression and how he helps a young woman’s encounter with a godman, who is out to expose this fake guru running an ashram. The film was premiered on 28 August 2020 on Disney+ Hotstar. The film’s trailer was released on 12 August 2020 on YouTube, and within a week, it became the second most-disliked video on the website due to vote brigading.

Sadak 2‘s trailer faced voting brigading owing to the nepotism debate sparked after the suicide of Indian actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Speculating that he had despaired of being shut out of the film industry due to hiring practices that favored children of established film personalities, Rajput’s fans blamed Bollywood insiders, including Sadak 2 director Mahesh Bhatt and his daughter Alia, one of its stars. Alia Bhatt had once spoken dismissively of Rajput on a chat show.

The film was initially scheduled for release on 25 March 2020 but was pushed to 10 July 2020. It was once again pulled from the release agenda as the capturing used to be delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in India. On 29 June 2020, the streaming service Disney+ Hotstar conducted a virtual press conference, where Alia Bhatt announced that the film was released on Disney+ Hotstar exclusively, premiered on 28 August 2020.
